God's desire is that troubled marriages would always be reconciled. Divorce is never good, but sometimes it's permissible.

Jesus didn't have a perfect batting average with getting his admirers to stick. Like most of us, they were not on a truth quest. They were on a happiness quest. Many walked away from Jesus because He didn't make them happy.

Most people are comfortable with religion b/c their eternity rests in their own efforts. They get a little jumpy with the Gospel b/c their eternity rests in the efforts of another.
